The Most Dangerous Threat to Building a Business Aligned With Your Purpose

Earlier this year I was trying to figure out where my business was heading.

I wanted to make sure I reached my goals as fast as possible without making any mistakes.

Well, trying to predict the future was my first mistake.

I brainstormed, bounced ideas off of people, and did everything to try and map out my future products and courses.

But it wasn’t happening.

It was only making me more confused.

Eventually, I gave up. I reverted to doing what I could do in this present moment.

As the year passed, clarity came when it needed to come. Life gave me insights when I needed them.

The problem is that if you try to figure everything out, right now, you’ll drive yourself crazy, and you’ll never get started.

You cannot eliminate uncertainty, and you cannot control life.

Trying to do this happens to everyone, and it’s a problem.

The Most Dangerous Threat

Trying to figure everything out clouds your excitement.

It stops you from following your purpose, because when you try to live through logic alone, you forget to listen to your heart.

You forget about your internal GPS, which is always there guiding you in the right direction. But in order to follow it, you have to let go and trust.

Not easy, I know.

For me, realizations seem to happen when I let go.

For example, if I’m stuck on writing an article, I do my best to figure it out, but when I start getting frustrated, I know it’s time to take a break.

That’s exactly what happened when I was writing this article.

I tried to write it earlier in the week, as I usually do. But all I could come up with were ideas that didn’t resonate with me at all.

So I waited, and on Saturday while I was washing dishes, the idea for this article popped into my head.

Then I sat down and wrote the first draft.

That’s how life happens when you let it.

Yes, you will want to figure things out, because you want to make sure things go right.

But if you go overboard, you’ll suffer.

So what can you do instead?

The Most Daring Solution

You can let go of trying to figure everything out.

What if you listened to your heart instead?

We all seem to have something inside that knows where to go, and it operates through excitement.

You resonate with certain things, and not others.

So for a moment, stop trying to get something. Stop trying to become someone. Drop all of these habits of doing something in order to get something else.

They don’t work. They’ve never worked. And they will never work. They only block you from following your true purpose.

Yes, be practical while building your business.

Learn from people you resonate with. Follow the tips. But always listen to what feels right for you. Don’t do something just because someone told you it’ll work.

If you haven’t yet started making progress towards building a lifestyle business, simply start with what feels right for you.

It won’t be easy, but you have to start somewhere.

Drop the notion that you can make faster progress if you just knew more, and just start with what you have.

Now, what does following your internal GPS look like in real life?

The Evolution of Passionate Living

When I first created my most popular course, Passionate Living in 2010, it was as a simple ebook that I sold for $9.95.

I chose to start with an ebook because it was what excited me. I could’ve focused on building a membership site, or on doing an expensive course.

That would’ve “made sense,” but instead I took the “long” way around and just started with a simple book. It was something I felt I could do, and I felt inspired to do it.

So don’t force yourself to do something that doesn’t resonate with you. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. That’s okay.

I’ve just finished upgrading Passionate Living. So it contains all new, life-changing material.

It’s been a journey, but it has happened organically, and without stress.

If you’re interested in getting Passionate Living, now would be a good time, because the price goes up on December 12th.

This is How We Change the World

In the end, we believe we can get something by doing something else, but can we really?

And I’m not talking about the practical aspects of life. I’m talking about things like building a business, where uncertainty rules.

Look at your life.

What you’ll see is that you are the happiest, and life flows the best when you simply follow your heart.

And this is how we can change the world through business.

The change starts with you and your lifestyle business.

Build a business that aligns with your purpose and your heart, and you will make a difference in the world.

But in order to do that, you have to be willing to drop the old habits of your mind. You have to stop paying so much attention to your thoughts and tune into your heart.

Follow your excitement and you will be on the right path.
